Plan Your Acadia Trip
By Brian D. Russ · How I Research These Guides
Open, with seasonal closures
Cadillac Summit Road closed to all users Nov 9-25 and Dec 1-18; Eastern Section of Beech Mountain Loop Trail Closed for Repairs (and 2 more)
Checked November 5, 2026. See alerts and current conditions
Most Acadia trips are short, and parking is what eats them. Cadillac Mountain takes a reservation, the Jordan Pond lot fills early, and the Island Explorer bus has its own schedule, so a loose plan can disappear into traffic on the Park Loop Road.
Pick your season first, since much of the park is seasonal, then settle where you'll sleep and how you'll get around. Everything I've written about Acadia is collected below.
