Acadia National Park Alerts and Current Conditions
Last checked: October 25, 2026. This page tracks what's closed, what's changed, and what's coming up at Acadia National Park, Maine, from the park's alerts, conditions, and hours pages. I check it daily and rewrite it when the park posts something new, so bookmark it rather than an old news story. Late fall on Mount Desert Island means facilities closing week by week and summit weather that can be very different from Bar Harbor's, so check the park's own alerts the morning you go.
Current alerts

What this means for your trip
The Ocean Path closure is the one most visitors will notice. The classic walk from Sand Beach past Thunder Hole toward Otter Cliff isn't on the closure list, but the end near Otter Point is, so plan to turn around before you reach it rather than counting on a one-way walk to the far end. If you were planning to climb Beech Mountain, the park itself names three open alternatives, and the outer loop is the simplest swap.
At Schoodic, the drive around the peninsula on the Schoodic Loop Road is listed as year-round, but you can't drive up to Schoodic Head right now. Stay off the closed road; there's heavy equipment working on it.
The bigger change this week is the season itself. With every campground closed, you'll need a room in Bar Harbor or another town on the island, and by early November most food inside the park is gone, so pack lunch. The park also warns that summit weather can swing from warm and sunny to cold and rainy, so bring layers for Cadillac even on a mild day in town.
Earlier alerts (outdated)
